Wednesday hella bay

Back in the bay, back in the day a label called Anticon emerged and rocked shows in SF and Oakland all the time. People who contributed to the label are Doseone, Sage Francis, Buck 65, Sole, and Atmosphere. This tape was released on Anticon's label under the name Greenthink. It's got a bunch of the dudes from Anticon and it's pretttty cool...especially if you're into lofi Dr. Sample beats and genre fucking.

Greenthink - Side A

Greenthink - Side B

Bo-Zach and I were back in the yay area this last week for Thanksgiving and so we were hoppin' around The Mission in SF looking for a spot to post and while scoping out The Elbo Room the DJ cued a fat track by Loose Ends called Hanging on a String, Check it:

Loose Ends - Hanging on a String

Roy is hella into the way E-40 emphasizes the "er" on the end of words and annunciates the rest of them. I like the beats. And with a poetry like, "Imma get paper, Never be a hater/ and if she's 18 I might fuck a 12th grader"....this banger is gold

Nump ft. E-40, Turf Talk, San Quinn - I Got Grapes

This next track is an old school throw back, back when they used to call STI's, "STD's"... and crossfaders didn't have that wonderful contour curve innovation. It's a slapper...

Kool Moe Dee - Go See The Doctor

Harper’s Weekly Round-Up And Good Tunes Tangentially (at most) Related To Them

At the third OPEC summit in 47 years, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that the price of crude oil could reach $200 a barrel. “The basis of all aggression,” said Chavez, “is oil.” During a private meeting that was accidentally televised, the oil minister of Venezuela suggested to the oil minister of Iran that OPEC stop using the crippled dollar for pricing; the foreign minister of Saudi Arabia countered that public discussion of the weak dollar would cause U.S. currency to lose value. “Kill the cable!” shouted a security guard as he ran into the meeting room, “Kill the cable!”

Vinyl Neccessary

Back once again with more shit i've ripped from my old vinyl (320 KBPS for all you salty beezies).

This is the most clutch bathroom/beer/smoke break song ever for a DJ and I got it for $1 in some shitty record store in Atlanta. Made in 1981 by a clever dance producer, he got together a band of Dutch Beatles impersonators, created a 25 song 13 minute medley, added a solid drum beat to it then called it a career. But, the band sounds really good, and no one i've played it for can tell its not the Beatles. Key moments include Eleanor Rigby (take that Reverend McFly's Bmore mix!), Get Back and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. This is basically a fool proof song for when the party begins to drag a bit. Enjoy. Oh and if anybody has the gumption to remix this shit send it back this way for good karma.

Great classic party jam with the Funky President break (i think) added for easy mixing.

Mr. Grimm - Indo Smoke (w/ intro)
A great, underappreciated G-Funk era westcoast classic.

Remember when SWV was bigger than En Vogue?

Carry on my wayward son,

All types of ill shit

So this first track is a remix that I came across by Jimpster from the UK. He spins that down-tempo jazzy house tracks. Sounds like something you might find on Om records. Up on his myspace he has a track called sad piano… sounds like a track that bozak put out a few years back.
James Flavour – Da Ride (Jimpster Remix)

Yelle is pretty cool. She is pretty popular in France says my friend. Her videos have cool colors and she dances pretty funny. If you’re familiar with “TTC – Dans Le Club”, you should check “Yelle – Je Veux Te Voir” because it’s her response
Yelle – Les Femmes

That “knuck if you buck” track that Crime Mobb put out four years back never got big enough if you ask me. Thanks to DJ Nappy yal can shake yo dreads one more time to this thug-step remix of that crazy crew from Ellenwood, GA.
Crime Mobb - Knuck If You Buck (DJ Nappy Thugstep Refix)
Figured I might as well throw on this ghetto-tech remix I have by Pistol Pete. It’s got a that supersonic 808 cowbell.
Crime Mobb – Knuck If You Buck (Pistol Pete remix)

This next track is pretty chill and poppy and IDM sort of and good with breakfast. He is from sunny San Diego, obviously. His album comes out in January… check for it, “Sex, Death, Cassette”.
Rafter – Accident

Some more from the south, this is Black Lips and they’re from Atlanta, Georgia. They’ve been together since 2000 and are supposed to put on crazy live shows with all sorts of debauchery.
The Black Lips – Veni Vedi Vici
Diplo made a pretty freshhhhhh remix:

Lastly, Dan Lee recently put out this jam and it’s hot. Spliced up some Cookie Monster 12’’ and came out with some gold. Check the interview on Seattle’s Fresh 2 Death Radio on Rainy Dawg to hear more... hear my loud ass phone ring half way through.

Miami Booty Bass & Funk Carioca

There is sunshine in Seattle!

Alright so I got some Miami booty bass that has been bumpin in my speakers lately. This group is called Avenue D (Debbie D. & Daphne D). These ladies are from Miami originally and then peaced out to NYC. This is a hot banger for the ladies to play for the lush petit ami on the way to the club.
Avenue D - 2d2f (z-share)

Seiji, whom I have recently discovered, has got some CRUNK funk carioca beats. He's from the London and he has a nice myspace page so check it out. This track "Todo Mundo" from the Funk Mundial series of Man Recordings (Berlin based) is hot-fire and the vinyl is white so that's bonus points.
Seiji ft. MC Dolores - Todo Mundo (z-share)

After Britney Spear's interesting "performance" at the 2007 VMAS her youtube videos of the performance mysteriously disappeared... Perhaps it had something to do with her heel breaking or her 2d2f Hollywood lifestyle, either way this remix came out and made bumpin "Gimme More" much more enjoyable.
Britney Spears - Gimme More (Seiji club mix) (z-share)

This last track is by Oakland's own Freak Nasty. You know what's hella funny... Freak Nasty was (is still?) a campus supervisor at my high school in Alameda. No lie, I had Freak Nasty yellin' at me to get my ass to class daily.
Freak Nasty - Da Dip (z-share)
p.s. If anyone has a better copy of this song hit me up... I think the recording was just done hella ghetto.

Stay good,
- Pedro
